Bringing a new life into this world is an incredibly amazing yet life-changing experience. We value and ensure that you and your family’s pregnancy journey is stress-free by providing tailored Antenatal Care Services support throughout it to guarantee the best outcome for you and the baby.

What Is Antenatal Care?

Also known as pregnancy care, antenatal care encompasses the medical and healthcare support provided during the pregnancy. A woman should regularly have antenatal check-ups to detect and manage risks early, encourage healthy pregnancy practices, and prepare the expecting mother for delivery and parenthood.

Specialist obstetricians, gynaecologists, sonographers, dietitians, and nursing staff work collaboratively with patients to ensure a safe and friendly environment that provides holistic care.

Key Services Offered at East Point Hospital

We schedule regular visits with our doctors to monitor the health of expecting mothers and their babies. These include weight checks, blood pressure monitoring, and tracking the baby’s growth and movements.

    • Ultrasound Scans: Ultrasound scans are performed to confirm pregnancy, verify heartbeat, track growth, and diagnose abnormalities. Special scans include NT scans (11-14 weeks) and anomaly scans (~20 weeks).
    • Blood and Urine Tests: These comprehensive screenings help uncover anaemia, infections, diabetes, or thyroid issues that could pose problems during pregnancy.
    • Nutritional Guidance and Supplements: Our dietitians design meal plans specific to mothers’ and babies’ needs for optimal nutrients. We also recommend crucial supplements like folate, iron, and calcium.
    • High-Risk Pregnancy Management: Our experts provide comprehensive care and surveillance to manage risks for complicated high blood pressure during pregnancy, gestational diabetes, or carrying multiple babies.
    • Antenatal Vaccinations: Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and flu shots protect both mother and infant.
    • Antenatal Classes: Regular workshops are conducted that focus on breathing and labour preparation, pain management, breastfeeding, and caring for the newborn.
    • Emergency Support and Hospital Admission: Our emergency care team is on standby 24/7 for immediate attention in case of sudden symptoms or complications requiring urgent Southlake Hospital admission.

    Care Approach and Services

The treatment for a mother is personalized based on their condition. It often consists of dietary modifications, supplements, medications, and active supervision. Our unit also manages mental health concerns, as it is critical to assist emotionally through all the stages of pregnancy.
